Why academia matters
At bloomUp, we believe accelerating sustainability requires more than strategy, it requires education, critical thinking, and the next generation of leaders.
That’s why we engage with academic institutions to connect theory, practice, and real-world challenges.
Les Roches, Crans-Montana
In Fall 2025, our co-founder Anne-Cécile contributed to the Master in Sports Management & Events at Les Roches, in the course “Sports Events and Sustainability.”
Learning differently: the “Parliament” concept
In addition of the of a traditional lectures, students worked in a debate format:
- Real-life case studies
- Structured discussions
- Challenging assumptions
The goal:
Move from theory to actionable thinking.
Sustainability through sport
The sessions were built on one key idea:
Sport is a lever for sustainable transformation — social, environmental, and economic.
- Social → inclusion, well-being, youth engagement
- Environmental → carbon, resources, biodiversity
- Economic → sustainable models & long-term value
From awareness to action
bloomUp’s approach to events:
Awareness → Engagement → Action → Responsibility
Illustrated through cases such as:
Paris 2024, Tour de France, and UCI Mountainbike World Championships, Valais 2025. Our co-founder Neil Beecroft who was head of sustainability for the event and Mahaut Recht, bloomUp consultant came to present the local case study to the students.
From classroom to real world
On April 1st, 2026, students visited bloomUp’s office, closing the loop between:
- Learning
- Practice
- Direct exchange with professionals
This intervention at Les Roches is part of a wider engagement.
bloomUp’s co-founders regularly contribute to academic programs across different institutions, because bridging academia and practice helps to:
- Equip future leaders with real-world tools
- Foster impact-driven thinking
- Turn knowledge into action
Sustainability is not only built in boardrooms or on the field, it is also shaped in classrooms.
We are proud to be part of that journey.
