bloomUp launches the “Biodiversity Compass Light’’ to accelerate nature-positive action

Biodiversity loss is accelerating, yet many organisations still hesitate to take action, not for lack of interest, but because biodiversity can feel complex, technical, or overwhelming.

When bloomUp launched the Biodiversity Compass in 2024, the ambition was clear: help organisations assess, protect, restore, and regenerate biodiversity within their sphere of influence. Since then, one message has come through consistently: “We want to act, but we don’t know where to start.”

To address this, bloomUp is introducing 3 progressive levels within the Biodiversity Compass, designed to meet organisations at their current level of maturity and support them step by step on their biodiversity journey.

  • Level 1 – COMMITTED (Bronze) Assess & Protect offers a clear starting point, helping organisations understand their impacts on nature and put essential protection measures in place.
  • Level 2 – ADVANCED (silver) Assess, Protect & Restore builds on this foundation by supporting actions that improve degraded ecosystems and strengthen biodiversity resilience.
  • Level 3 – LEADING (Gold) Assess, Protect, Restore & Regenerate enables organisations ready to go further to create lasting, nature-positive value and long-term legacy.

These levels do not lower ambition, they lower the barrier to action. Organisations can start where they are, progress at their own pace, and move toward more advanced biodiversity outcomes over time.

“Biodiversity action should be within reach of every organisation,” says Anne-Cécile, Partner at bloomUp and Founder of the Biodiversity Compass. “With these three levels, we offer a clear and progressive path, allowing organisations to start where they are and move, step by step, toward meaningful, nature-positive impact.”

The Biodiversity Compass and its three levels remain aligned with international frameworks such as the Global Biodiversity Framework, CSRD requirements, Sports For Nature framework, and nature-positive best practices, while staying firmly rooted in operational reality across sectors including sport, hospitality, and events.

🌱 If you haven’t started yet, now is the right moment.

bloomUp invites organisations to choose their entry level, take action for biodiversity, and join a growing community committed to protecting and restoring the natural environments we all depend on.
